Sangerfest 2016
Sioux Falls Convention Center                                                                                        June 9-11, 2016

Ladies Events

Below are some of the exciting things we had planned for the ladies! Many visited our vendor booths or relaxed with a cookie and coffee in the hospitality room. Of course no one missed the Memorial Service at 6:00 on Thursday followed by the Parade of Choruses at 7:00 and the afterglow. Friday's outing was a delight to those who took the opportunity. The ladies arrived back in plenty of time to rest a bit before they joined the men at the formal banquet in the evening. Saturday everyone had a chance to visit our Norwegian themed vendors in our Nordik Butik. The Ladies luncheon began at 11:00 and the evening was filled with the Grand Concert at 7:00 and the plated meal and special music at the afterglow. Wow! It was a Sangerfest to remember!

Ladies' Luncheon  ($40)
Saturday, June 11, 2016
11:00 AM

The ladies luncheon was held in the convention center. We had a terrific menu, door prizes, and favors for you. Also for our entertainment the Dancing Divas performed and Julie Clark taught us how to pour our hearts into life!

  • Dancing Divas

The Dancing Divas have been featured on KELOLAND TV and PBS. They have also entertained at the Grand Falls Casino and for the last three years at the Senior Event in October. Joanna Salmon started the Dancing Divas in 2008. After spending 27 years in Las Vegas, she returned to Sioux Falls and picked the dancers from a line dancing class at the Center for Active Generations. The ladies practice three days a week for 2 to 3 hours a day. It's not easy for old dogs to learn new tricks, but these ladies have proven it's possible. They are all in their 70's. One of the dancers, Joy Outka said she would rather sew than dance. Joanna took her up on that, and Joy has been making the dancers' costumes ever since. Joanna designs them and Joy brings them to life. The Divas have a different costume for every dance and have now accumulated more than 50 outfits. The main focus of the group is to bring good entertainment. They look at what they do as more of a ministry than a job and feel abundantly blessed to do so.
