Our car dealer advertisers and sponsors displayed 9 new cars for guests to browse.

Also on display was this 1933 Rolls Royce which is still used as a limousine in the local area. This is a rare opportunity for a close up look at and perhaps a photo opportunity with a beautiful piece of art and history!

Delivered new in 1933 to Mrs. Beulah Higgengotham, this Rolls spent its next few years with her in London.  It was then purchased by Sir Henry Pettigrew, a member of Parliament.  As far as we know, he kept it throughout  WWII.  It is documented as being in London during the Battle of Britain, so it saw the Spitfires chasing the German bombers around the skies of London.  Many cars were destroyed by the bombing, and many more were cut up for materiel for the war effort.  This Rolls was thankfully spared both fates.

The trail is lost then, but it is certain that it stayed in Britain during the war, as no one was shipping cars anywhere.  Our lady then surfaced in Washington D.C, in 1968.  It is thought that it came to these shores in diplomatic service, and was sold off at some point.  The first American owner was a CIA agent, who began his career with the OSS, and spent much of his time in foreign lands.  The owner prior to us knew him, and said he was a certified spook, and a very colorful character.  The car then passed through two more owners, residing in their collections, until the prior owner purchased it and put it into service as a wedding limousine, still in the D.C. area.  We are fortunate to be the temporary custodian of this piece of rolling art and history.
